Why You Need Family Photos - In Fall

Getting family photos is so important! Especially when your children are small and even more so when the fall colours start appearing.

The fall season only lasts so long, truly! I've seen our beautiful fall colours come and go as quick as 3 days. It doesn't always give plenty of time for planning your fall family photos but I promise you, it's worth it.

The sunsets are amazing and luckily, a little bit earlier. That means that you're not cutting into your normal daily routine or your kids' bedtimes.

Not only does the beautiful fall season make its speedy appearance, but it's also so important to remember that your little ones grow up so fast.

It's a blink! A faded memory.

How do you keep those personal memories alive?

You probably guessed it! Family photos.

How To Get Your Kids Involved In Family Photos

I've seen it before!

Sometimes we worry about if our children will be in a good mood, follow instructions, and cooperate.

Not to worry, at all. I've got you.

First of all, you can count on me to interact and direct your children in your family photos as needed. I have two little ones of my own and I can assure you that it's not as daunting as you think.

Here are a few quick tips on how to get your kids involved in family photos without all the fuss.

  • Let them bring a few toys
  • Let them bring their favourite stuffed animal or baby blanket, it will calm them
  • Bring bubbles, tickly feathers, or anything else you think they'd laugh at
  • Ask them to explore the area
  • Walk with them hand-in-hand
  • Tell stories and secrets
  • Hug them, A LOT
  • Squeeze them, A LOT
  • Throw them up in the air
  • Swing them
  • Let them climb a tree
  • Ask them to blow dandelion fluff into the air
  • Take them to throw rocks in the river

The secret to getting your kids involved in family photos is to interact. The best images of children, at any time, is when you catch them being who they are.

If they are an explorer, let them explore.

If they love being close to you, get in there with those squishy hugs.

You know your children better than anyone.

As for the rest, as your family photographer, I'll always engage your kids so we get the best fall family photos.
